PPP267: Thankful for Piano Parents (and a confession)

In today’s special Thanksgiving episode, piano teachers share stories of gratitude for the families in their studio.

A few weeks ago, in preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday, I invited several piano teacher friends to share a message of gratitude for their studio families.

Here are their inspiring messages…

Marti from Texas

I’m Marti from Texas.

I’m ever thankful for The Khurana Family who has hosted our Studio December Recital from 2007 until 2019 (until COVID). Their grand piano – and home/decorations – are GRAND!

Many of my piano parents go the extra mile to encourage their kids in ALL musical endeavors – including the very time-consuming commitment to marching band in High School.

I ALWAYS thank my parents for providing lessons and trusting me with their kids.

Blessings,

Marti

Jacki from Indiana

Hi! Thanks for allowing me to sing the praises of my piano parents!

I am so very thankful for my piano parents/families who really stepped up to support me in 2019 and 2020 when I went through chemotherapy and then when my husband passed away tragically. Completely understanding of missed lessons on my end and gift cards, cash, and home-cooked meals during my time of grief.

Blessings sent from God.

Becki from Texas

I am crazy grateful that the parents at my studio are so willing to follow me down the path of hair-brained ideas. Whether it’s having a radio broadcast recital or a red carpet theater recital or an adjudicated festival, my parents always support me and the kids ALL THE WAY TO THE END!

I love them for that and am so grateful!

Becki has joined me on several PPP episodes.

Dawn from Kansas

This year I am especially grateful to my piano parents for their flexibility and responsiveness to studio communications.

This is a little bit more on a personal level but our house is undergoing some external construction work this year and the street has also getting dug up by the city working on the water lines.

There were several times throughout the year where I was sending out a text or an email saying, “Hey, we’ve got to park over here this week.” or … “Let’s use the back door today because the front door’s not really accessible.”

Everyone was really great about getting those and making sure whoever was dropping off their child that day knew what was going on. … It made my life so much easier.

In addition to working behind the scenes for Piano Parent Podcast, Dawn has also joined me on a few episodes.

Confession Time:

Even though this podcast is dedicated to piano parents and designed to support piano parents, I confess that I haven’t had many parents on the show.

The last parent interview was back in January of this year. It was a great episode with a piano kid and her parents and her teacher. You can listen at PPP225: “2021” with Songwriter and Piano Kid, Violet Rivers (and company).

You can also hear previous piano parent interviews here.

I would like to remedy that problem in 2022 by sharing more piano kids’ stories. I’d like to hear from more piano parents and how they’ve helped their children not only continue their piano studies but overcome challenges pertaining to learning to play piano.

I know your story (or your questions) will be a huge inspiration to other piano parents.

In order to support more parents, I need your help. Please take a moment to complete this contact form and apply to be a guest on the show.

Consider this your open invitation to join me on the podcast. I’m looking forward to visiting with you and sharing your story!
