Podcast Launch

Making the most of piano lessons.
Making the most of piano lessons.

In less than one month, this one-of-a-kind podcast will launch!

Mark your calendar for August 15, 2016 for the launch of a brand new podcast dedicated to parents of piano students; the Piano Parent Podcast.

If you do a Google search for piano podcasts, you will find many to choose from that are directed at piano teachers.  Every issue from proper technique to the latest music apps to standard teaching repertoire is addressed in order to equip piano teachers with knowledge so they can provide the best musical education for their students. While these issues are important and necessary, what about the parents of piano students?

Piano parents have a far greater influence on the success of the piano student than the teacher.

They are the ones purchasing the instrument, scheduling practice, combating the “I don’t want to practice” blues, cheer leading, motivating, chauffeuring to lessons and events, all the while footing the bill. Some teachers educate their parents on common studio practices and best disciplines for successful piano study but many teachers do not and parents are left to do the best they can.  Sadly, and too often, parents decide the battle is not worth it and give up before they, or their children, ever enjoy the fruit of their labor.

Finally, reinforcements have arrived!

The Piano Parent Podcast is geared specifically for parents of piano students.  Whether they have extensive musical knowledge or barely know the basics, piano parents will find valuable information contained in each episode. The Piano Parent Podcast is educational and entertaining.  Parents will learn basic musical terms and symbols, what to look for when choosing an instrument, how to provide the best atmosphere for practicing, what not to do as a piano parent, and much more.  Parents will enjoy listening to interviews with other parents as they share tips, suggestions, successes, and pitfalls. (If you are interested in sharing your experiences as a piano parent, email info@pianoparentpodcast.com)  It helps to know you aren’t alone in your struggles to get your child to practice and keep them involved in such a valuable, though often isolated, activity.

Parents will also be able to listen in as piano teachers talk shop and share their policies and teaching experiences.  You will hear their favorite piano kid stories as well as often repeated teaching concepts and parent reminders. (Teachers interested in being interviewed for the Piano Parent Podcast can email info@pianoparentpodcast.com) Do you know what keeps teachers motivated or who their favorite composers are?  Find out as you listen to the teacher interviews on the Piano Parent Podcast.
